Celebrating World Health Day with the Doctors Goodwill Foundation

April 7, 2025

This World Health Day, we honor the remarkable efforts of the Doctors Goodwill Foundation (DGF), a nonprofit dedicated to improving healthcare worldwide and right here in Brevard County. Founded in 2003 by a group of visionary physicians at Parrish Medical Center, DGF has spent over two decades providing compassionate medical care, education, and community support. From its inaugural medical mission to Tibet to addressing critical local challenges like HEP C, HIV, substance abuse, and suicide, DGF’s impact is undeniable.

Occasionally, DGF hosts its Annual Health Expo—a rare and special event—featuring lectures, vendor showcases, and resources to help individuals take control of their health. Whether or not we’re hosting this year, the foundation’s mission remains steadfast: supporting medical missions globally, funding student scholarships, and partnering with volunteers and local businesses to meet urgent needs. From raising over $200,000 for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005 to delivering babies in Africa and providing defibrillators to local schools, DGF’s work touches countless lives.

Founder Kantilal Bhalani, M.D., once asked, “What could we do to help those people in need throughout the world?” That question ignited a movement that, 22 years later, continues to thrive. This World Health Day, we celebrate DGF’s legacy of service and compassion—and look forward to a future where health is a gift we can all share.
